Round Robin Photo Challenge - Statues

This month's Round Robin Photo Challenge was Statues.

The first picture was taken in Paris at the Sacre Coeur. I have a real thing about gargoyles and was really gutted to have missed out on climbing to the top of Notre Dame to get up close to them all, but unfortunately we had all of our baggage with us that day - not good for climbing up 200 odd narrow steps!

The next two pictures were taken in Rome, the first is taken outside of St Peters in the Vatican and the second is a beautiful fountain outside the church which holds the famous 'mouth of truth' from the film Roman Holiday starring one of my idols Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck.

The last picture was taken at a museum in Istanbul and is of the Roman Emperor Hadrian. My husband is an avid historian and especially loves the Roman period and having seen this statue in many books was overjoyed at seeing it in person. I love the effect that the lighting has on the statute in this one.

I look forward to hearing your comments!

  1. Hi Dawn, you have some great shots here, really digging the b&W approach, which shows off the light, shadows and texture in these shots. The sidelighitng really makes the last shot pop, you could try tidying up the background in post processing but removing the slightly distrating shadows on the left hand edge? all in-all a great set well done!
