Updates on Website!!

Apologies once again for being absent for so long but I have been a very busy gal indeed!

I have had a stall sporadically throughout the year at the Handcrafted & Vintage Fair held at St Albans Town Hall and am hoping to continue through 2013.  Dates will be added as soon as I have the information.

I have been kept busy with some beautiful weddings and portraits which has been great fun with everyone involved.

I have also been commissioned throughout the year to photograph products and sites for various websites which has given lots of variety and brought some fabulous new acquaintances into my life who I will be continuing to collaborate with for some time.

Finally there have been LOTS of additions on the website since I last posted here, with new galleries being added to the Travel section, here are a few examples but please visit the website for all of them (www.dawnelliottphotography.co.uk) I would love to hear what you think...!

Until then Peeps, bye for now x

Happy 2012!!

Well New Year resolution will definately be to keep this blog up to date. Things have been completely manic settling into the new job, but am so much happier now.

I haven't been out and about much with my camera over the past few months so major slapped wrists for that. However am very excited to be co-photographing a Fragrance Conference in London at the end of the month, its a 2 day event so hopefully should be a really good experience and great for my portfolio!

Also have a couple of weddings in the pipeline and lots of commercial projects. and am hoping to FINALLY get my long overdue mystery project that I seem to have been planning forever done so I can move on to the next one!

Elsewhere have been obsessed with baking! People have been going crazy for my cupcakes for a year or so and so I thought it time I branched out and tried a few different things and have been loving every minute of it. Have posted a couple of pics of my wares above.

Anyway catch up soon - I will post some pics from the conference early Feb.

Bye for now! x

Grimms Fairy Tales - Little Red Riding Hood Collection

Happy Valentines Day everyone!

Well as promised, I said I would reveal the theme of last week's photoshoot in good time and I can now share it with you.... Grimms Fairy Tales is one of my favourite books of all time and I wanted to do my vision of Little Red Riding Hood and put a bit of a Burton-esque twist on it. I'm really pleased with how it turned out.

The shoot with Laura went so well on Friday, my only complaint was it didn't last long enough!!! I had so much fun doing the shoot but Laura was so brilliant that we got all the shots I needed really quickly. We were so lucky with the weather too, I wanted a really grey and miserable day but not raining, and thankfully thats exactly what we got. Lady luck was shining down on us too as just as we finished the sun decided to come out which would have ruined the shots if it had been earlier. Once again we got a few strange looks and comments when walking past dog walkers and fisherman, but brilliantly Laura's unfaltering enthusiasm for the shoot came into play and she was quick to ask the fishermen whether they'd seen any wolves nearby haha

Anyway I still have ALOT more editing to do (just narrowing down the selection for the collection is hard enough) but here are a few pictures to whet your appetite.

Would love to hear your comments..

Round Robin Photo Challenge - True Colours

Once again I have been a bit AWOL from the challenges over the past few months, but am back and hope to be able to continue to participate regularly.

This week's Round Robin Challenge was True Colours to photograph something unusually colourful. Unfortunately I have been a bit rushed so have dug into my archives...

This photograph was taken in my back garden when the sky had started to look scarily apocolyptic and perfect to capture on film and purple is one of my favourite colours so it was even more apt!

Hope you like it!

MARKET STALL FINALLY UP AND RUNNING!

Well once again, many apologies for being completely AWOL around these parts lately but it is for good reason I promise - I have FINALLY got the market stall up and running!!! YAY!

For a first attempt it wasn't great, being a newbie I was last on the list to be allocated a pitch and what an awful one it was too! It was right down the end of the market where very few people venture and then it was outside a builders hoarding which took up half the pavement so anyone stopping at the stall soon got shuffled along by other pedestrians. That, mixed in with the freezing conditions and people's lack of spending (according to other traders so wasn't just me thankfully!) didn't make for a very profitable day.

But all is not lost, we got a helluva lot of interest and some great feedback and I have learnt so much already from Day 1 and I am determined to pick up, dust off and carry on.
Unfortunately I turned up this weekend and so did every other trader in the area so unfortunately I didn't manage to get a pitch, however I will be back on the 19th to give it another go so fingers crossed...
Bye for now x

Playing around with Photoshop

I had a little rant to my friends recently after viewing some amazing Photoshopped pictures. These pictures were truly incredible but I felt they weren't true photography. Having this conversation with my Mum (turns out they are in fact almost always right!) she pursuaded me to try out a bit of Photoshop to the Woodland Dreams photographs and try putting Laura into a flower. She put it across that if I took both photographs it is still your own photography and it is just a different form of artwork that you have still created on your own. (see told you they're always right!)

Anyway here is my first couple of attempts and I must say I really am pleased with how they have come out.

What do you think??
